Audio Assignment part 2
I handed in my audio project today, and I would like to say it went all ok without any problems, but as always with computers I did come across a few.
I began the project last night, I had my image all the tracks that I needed (in the end I used four, the manager being interviewed, the crowd, a whistle which was repeated a few times during the audio track and an announcer). So there weren’t any problems obtaining them.
I wasn’t using one of the recommended programmes as I didn’t have it on the laptop I was working on, I used Adobe Audition though.
Sorting out the audio track with the mix of all four tracks wasn’t a problem, I got all the tracks imported, in the order that I wanted them to be, faded one in and out etc. not a problem.
Burned the uncompressed onto a CD but then I couldn’t put anything else on it, so had to burn another one with the picture, the uncompressed version and the MP3 version. I then added all the original sound tracks to another folder and burned the CD.
I decide to put it all on my memory stick too so that if this morning while at Uni I had any problems with it I could access it on my memory stick.
I copy all the files over (they were saved onto the computer) when it said my memory stick was too full, so I started deleting things (after transferring them onto the computer) and it was still full, I deleted loads of work off too!
By this point I’m getting frustrated as it’s only one file that won’t go on, and it’s one that I need! I e-mail it to myself, and wait for it to load while I get ready for bed when my dad says he has a memory stick that I could put it on. Good thing too as it was too big to e-mail.
I’m glad I did put it on my memory stick as I get to university and the folder with the original sound files hadn’t been burnt onto the CD and it wouldn’t let me copy it over (It wouldn’t let me write to it, read only) I had brought spare CD’s with me so I was able to copy it over to a new one and hand it all in.
Although doing this project wasn’t a rush or a stress to get done it was more of a rush/stress when the CD’s wouldn’t burn on the Mac’s and then won’t play on a PC even though the Mac and PC option was clicked when burning.
It was all handed in on time and complete.
Audio Assignment
The most recent assignment is to use Audio software and produce a three track cd of sounds that are linked to a picture, so basically getting an image and have three sound tracks for that image.
I’m basing my assignment around a football match. I’m going to get an image of a football match, I would like to have some audio of the manager talking about the match (this will be my audio sample using a microphone), the crowd hopefully chanting or just the cheering, and either the refs whistle or something else that relates to the football pitch.
I was hoping to work on it today but then I realised that I hadn’t got the photo’s my dad has them, and the same with the audio so I have to wait for him to finish work but I still have this evening and all day tomorrow to work on it.
The deadline is on Friday in the tutorials.
Illustrator
The second assignment was to produce a magazine page, for our course Digital Arts and Technology.
We were given an image which we had to vectorise and then use it somewhere in the magazine article, we were given the text and the images to use we just needed to edit them to make them less pixellisd and also for the text not to have any “widows” or “orphens” in.
The hardest part of this assignment for me was the vectorising because it took me a long time to do, as like with Photoshop had never had to vector anything before. It wasn’t that we just had to do the outline we had to copy the orginally image including the shadowing and colours.
To do this I did the outline by tracing over the image and then just using the eyedropper tool copying the colour and fill the shape with that. After a few hours work I had completed the vector and started on the magazine page.
I ended up doing three, all very similar only changed a few things, one had lots of white space on it, one was white but had added an extra image to fill in the space, and one had two coloured backgrounds to add colour to the page.
The last one was the one I handed in, as others agreed that one looked the best (the others looked too simple and too plain)
Photoshop
This first assignment was to be done in Photoshop, using the tools that we had learnt in the tutorials i.e. masking, stamp tool etc. we had to produce a weather splash screen for a website.
The final piece was to be compressed to a jpeg which made the file size lower, we had to hand in everything all the images we used and then of course the splash screen we had made.
As I had never used Photoshop before apart from “vandalising” a photo (by painting over it) it was new to me, so it was interesting using the different tools to produce something that looks completely different from the original image.
